Sodium chloride which is commonly found in Industrial Salt is often associated with triggers of increased blood pressure and stroke.
According to a study from the Population Health Research Institute of Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster University in Canada, this effect actually occurs in countries such as China, where people like to consume Industrial Salt in very high amounts. Dangerous risks do not only appear when the Industrial Salt is consumed in excessive amounts. In findings published in the Lancet medical journal, lack of sodium chloride intake can also trigger many diseases, such as heart attacks and death. Therefore, in order to maintain heart health experts recommend consuming Industrial Salt 3 to 5 grams per day.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends sodium intake of no more than 5 grams a day to reduce the risk of rising blood pressure. The American Heart Association recommends a lower number, no more than 2.3 grams per day. The research team found that in fact no country had succeeded in fulfilling one of the two recommendations.
In a study involving more than 90,000 people from 21 countries, experts observed blood pressure and cardiovascular results related to sodium and potassium intake, which was calculated from fasting urine samples. The average participant was involved in research for 8 years. As a result, an increase in cardiovascular risk occurs in people who consume Industrial Salt more than 5 grams per day. Experts do not find an increased risk of disease in those who consume Industrial Salt an average of 3 to 5 grams per day.
From this we can conclude that sodium intake is good for cardiovascular health, but this is dangerous if the intake of Industrial Salt is too high or too low.
